The Triathlon squad had their final race for the season on the weekend on a cold and windy St Kilda morning. In the ‘Mini’ race, comprising of a 300m swim, 13km bike and a 3km run, Camberwell had six Year 8 students competing in the 12-13 age group. Lachlan O’Neill in his first triathlon finished in an outstanding 10th place. Jack Dobbyn and Freddie Askew also registered top 20 placings in a field of over 70 competitors. Billy Swingler (Year 9) continued his fine form, finishing in 15th place in the 14-15 age group and in his final ever race for CGS, Ryan Fitzgerald (Year 12) saved his best for last, finishing an impressive 5th place in the 16-19 age group. In their final race for CGS, Harry Swingler, Jack Amling and Charlie Harper (all Year 12) competed in the teams event where each competitor competes in a separate leg of the race. Harry led out on the swim and placed the team in the top 3. A quick transition saw Jack Amling power onto the cycle leg, giving Camberwell a strong lead. Charlie Harper ran a quick 5km to lead the team home in first place ahead of 26 other teams, a great way to end their season and a sweet reward for their dedicated efforts throughout the year.
