Congratulations to Patrick Homes (Year 11) and Vincent Chen (Year 12), who placed in the top three in Victoria for their respective categories in the National History Challenge.
The National History Challenge is a research-based competition that gives students a chance to be historians, researching world history, examining Australia’s past, investigating their community, or exploring their roots. It emphasises and rewards quality research, the use of community resources, and effective presentation.
Consequently, both students progressed to national judging, and Patrick was awarded the State Prize in 'Australia’s Wartime Experiences' category for his essay on the causes and consequences of the Fall of Singapore. The level of research and insightful analysis in his essay was very impressive.
Patrick will attend an awards ceremony later this month at the Victorian Archives Centre. A fantastic achievement!
