Highlights from the Weickhardt Library

Weickhardt Library was a hive of activity during Term 3 and we're not slowing down for Term 4!

Book Week this year was special for us as we reflected on the theme 'Reading is Magic'. It certainly felt magical as we saw students excited for a range of activities like Guess the Shredded Book, Book Folding, Silhouette Candle Holder Making, and so many more.

Andrew Plant, an accomplished zoologist, illustrator and alumni, was the highlight of our term when he visited for the annual Blokes’ Book Breakfast. He shared his story of becoming an artist following a science degree and how he finds inspiration in the absurdity of daily life.

We also made some small changes with big impact:

  • Year 6 to 12 students can borrow as many books as they can carry!
  • New non-fiction collections that more accurately reflect what students are reading and searching for
  • Restarted fortnightly MakerSpace sessions so students can play, craft and explore.

Throughout Term 4 we’ll be here to support students with their exam preparation and help them unwind after a big year.

Have a look at the Weickhardt Library DEEDS page for more information like:

  • Library catalogue and how to renew and reserve loans
  • How to borrow eBooks and Audiobooks
  • ClickView movies and TV shows
  • Online resources like databases and newspapers
  • Request a book service.

The Weickhardt Library is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am until 4.45pm. See you soon!
