The competition was a little different this year in that performances needed to adhere to covid-safe conditions. Therefore this year there were no crowds of spectators. Nevertheless, the event was a great success and House groups were able to demonstrate their impressive talents in a variety of musical disciplines.

The theme this year was a challenging one – Russian songs – and the preparation was made difficult by the snap lockdown we experienced in Week 3. Nevertheless, the students again showed great resilience and creativity and recorded live singing performances in the Wheelton Auditorium on Tuesday, followed by Instrumental performances in the PAC in the afternoon. The Adjudicator, Ms Karen Heath, Head of Music at Fintona, was very impressed with the quality of the singing and performing and the final results were very close. In the end the instrumental section was won by Bridgland, followed by Steven and Schofield, and the choral section was won by Summons, followed by Bridgland and Macneil. Overall Bridgland emerged as the victorious House, with Steven in second, Macneil third, and Summons fourth. Well done to all students – House Music is one of the few competitions where every member of the House has an important contribution to make, and once again the students rose to the challenge.
