House Music Competition 2025

On Thursday 20 February, Senior School students took to the stage for the much-anticipated 59th Annual House Music Competition, delivering an unforgettable evening of music under this year’s Country theme.

Performing to a packed audience, students showcased an impressive array of talent, from moving ballads to rousing anthems. The competition was fierce, but in the end, Clifford House claimed the top spot, with Summons House finishing as runner-up.

This competition is an entirely student-run event, from repertoire selection to learning and rehearsing all items under student leadership. Each House Music leader guided their team capably and is to be congratulated. The work of the arrangers, conductors and accompanists was impressive; so too was the way each House came together to sing with passion and conviction.

A standout performance of the night was Clifford House’s exceptional instrumental piece, Piano Quintet in G Minor: 4th Movement by Max Bruch, featuring Tyler on piano, Leo on 1st violin, Howard on 2nd violin, Joseph on viola and Gabriel on cello. Summons House captivated the audience with their choral rendition of The Gambler by Kenny Rogers, while Bridgland House impressed with their harmonised choral performance of Better Be Home Soon by Crowded House and a lively unison rendition of Southern Nights by Glen Campbell.

Congratulations to all students, those who worked behind the scenes and our adjudicators for a fantastic evening. All the preparation and hard work in the lead-up made this event a night to remember!
