Congratulations on your amazing ATAR result, how do you feel?
Pretty relieved to be honest, happy for everyone else, happy for all my mates who did well and got what they needed. And all the guys who might have been a bit disappointed, you know I’m hoping that they will find a different path to where they want to be.
What are your plans now that you know your results?
I will just enjoy it. I will go out tomorrow night, enjoy the night and bring on 2021! Hopefully it is a bit more of a normal year. In terms of beyond that, I think I will probably stay in Victoria, see where university takes me. I think I’ll do Medicine or Science or something along those lines. I thought I’d go down the Medicine path and become a doctor, but I really enjoy my languages too. Hopefully somewhere along the way I’ll get to practice those, maybe go overseas somewhere and speak them in real life. But yeah, I guess I’ll see where the road takes me.
Any advice for students studying the VCE?
Start early. Don’t start right before Year 12 exams. But balance it out, do lots of other things. You can’t study all the time and, if you do, you’ll end up feeling a bit crushed, a bit disappointed so just enjoy it. It’s a great couple of years, probably the best years of your school life. Have a good time I’d say.
How did you find the support here at Camberwell Grammar, particularly during the past year in the time of COVID?
Even before this year it has been fantastic for me. I have really enjoyed the environment here, both students and teachers. I think that they really promote a culture where everyone works hard, and everyone sort of feeds off each other in a way that they can… you know the positive energy kind of really pervades the classroom and brings everyone up. In terms of support, I’ve really felt that – especially this year as I had my doubts and I was kind of worrying, is everything going to be different. And I remember emailing my VCE Coordinator and asking, “Oh you know I’m a bit worried.” And he said, “Just hop on the phone right now and call me.” For him to give up his time like that I thought was really just testament to the extent to which Camberwell is dedicated to supporting students through the good and the bad. So I was really impressed with it, as always.

Congratulations on your amazing ATAR result, how do you feel?
I am very relieved to get my result, and it’s a really good feeling to know that I’ll be able to do what I am passionate about and what I enjoy, which to me is a very satisfying feeling.
What are your plans now that you know your results?
I am looking to study Science at The University of Melbourne and see where that takes me. Something Chemistry related, chemical systems I think.
Any advice for students studying the VCE?
This year more than ever has shown us how important it is to be surrounded by so many great people, people who will support you, who will love you unconditionally; and these are people who I really value, and who I am really thankful to have in my life. And work hard, that will get you to where you deserve to be.
How did you find the support here at Camberwell Grammar, particularly during the past year in the time of COVID?
It was wonderful. Lots of great teachers who were very helpful, who would always give up their time for not just me but for everyone in my class. And there are lots of great people here. Lots of interesting stories and backgrounds, and so much to share from all the students here.
