In May, Camberwell Grammar's first Jazz Night was held in the PAC. It was all swing and sultry tunes with the stage and soft lighting set to create a moody 'jazz club'.
There were superb performances by the CGS Big Band, Middle and Senior School Stage Bands, Guitar Ensembles and Highton Strings. It was also wonderful to see many students stand up and sing, showing great courage and showmanship. Congratulations to all the musicians, the music staff, and Friends of Performing Arts for creating such a memorable evening.
In May also, the Auditorium was filled with delighted audience members for the Chamber Concert. Congratulations to all who took part, including Alumni Daniel Watson (2021) who rejoined the orchestra to perform the trumpet solo with the Chamber Orchestra in 'Concerto pour Troumpette' by H. Tomasi. The evening included performances by the energetic Drumline and the Senior School Symphonic Winds' rendition of the theme song from 'The Incredibles'.
Participating ensembles also included the Senior School Orchestra, playing 'Thunder and Lightning Polka' by Strauss. We hope you enjoy this clip of their performance, conducted by the Director of Music Ben Bishop.
