Welcome to Country Ceremony

To mark the commencement of the 2024 school year, students and staff across the campus were invited to participate in a Welcome to Country ceremony on Monday, February 5

The Ngurungeata of the Wurrundjeri community, Murrundindi, and his son, Palian, greeted all community members as they moved through cleansing smoke generated by branches from the Cherry Ballart tree.

Following this, Murrundindi offered the traditional Woiwurrung welcome, singing in language and performing on the didgeridoo.

His broader messages encouraging students to courageously ‘step forward’ and acknowledging the strength in our diverse community were well received by his audience.
